Let’s get out 12 months in a row for at least an overnight adventure by bike, April 2026 through March 2027 – collective enthusiasm and motivation to detach ourselves from our day-to-day lives, however briefly, for the simplicity and joy of bike camping. And you can win some rad prizes just for participating!

Hi, Kurt Refsnider here, excited to invite you to join me in this. Bikepacking and travel by bike has been such a major part of my life for nearly two decades now, but it wasn’t until just last year that I managed to get out every single month for at least an overnighter, and it was a really fun and motivating goal to chase. So, join me for another 12-month bikepack-every-month-challenge beginning April, 2026.

This challenge is free, open to anyone and everyone, and there’ll be a monthly prize drawing for participants! Read on to learn how to join the challenge and submit your monthly adventure. That’s all there is to it!

guidelines for the challenge

Get out every month from April 2026 through March 2027 for at least an overnight adventure on a bike (winter is tougher, so let’s end the challenge with those months).

What counts as “bikepacking?” Ride to a close-to-home campground, stay in a cabin/motel/rifugio, disappear deep into the backcountry, or perhaps pedal to spend a night at a friend or relative’s house if it’s wintery outside. It’s all bikepacking – just pack the gear you need and get out there.

If you’re on social media, post a few photos and tag with #bikepackeverymonth

Submit your ride: Upload the ride location (and/or GPS file) and a photo or three to the map interface below to officially document and share your month’s achievement (we may share your photos on social media to help inspire others).

Each month completed gets you one entry into the monthly prize drawings (physical prizes available only to U.S. residents only). See full prize list below. Each round of prize winners will be announced in roughly mid-month in Kurt’s monthly e-newsletter sent out to all challenge participants.

Miss a month? It happens, and it’s ok! We still invite you to continue on with the challenge for the remaining months, and you’ll still be eligible for the remaining monthly drawings with the exception of the final one.
Complete all 12 months and earn a “Bikepack Every Month” patch (U.S. residents only) and be part of the final prize drawing when some more substantial prizes up for grabs!

To join the challenge, simply create an account in the “Bikepack Every Month Challenge” interface above (click the “Log in” button to start).

To submit a monthly ride, log in to the interface above, and then click the blue “Submit Ride” button. Fill out the required fields in the form, upload a photo or three if you’d like to share the adventure (we’d love that), hit the “Submit” button at the bottom, and you’re done!
